  1. It’s good to know that you need to apply for a permit to haul an oversize load. My sister has been telling me about some large equipment that she wants to get moved in the coming weeks. I’ll share this information with her so that she can look into her options for professionals who can help her with this.

    1. Hollie. The laws on this are pretty loose. The rule of thumb for the lower 48 states is that the sign or placard must be a 8 inches in height and 12 inches in width and located on both front driver and passenger doors. It must be a clear font and in contrast colors, contain the name and phone number of the company.

  2. I AM QUOTING A LOAD GOING FROM TX STATE LINE TO VERNICE LOUSIANA, DO I HAVE TO HAVE POLICE ESCORT AND IF I DO CAN I GET STATE POLICE TO RUN WITH ME ALL THE ROUTE RATHER THAN HAVING DIFFERENT POLICE ESCORTS FOR EVERY DIFFERENT PARISH? MY LOAD IS 15’6″ WIDTH 17’10” HEIGHT

  3. Please pardon the late reply John as we just saw your comment. Can you share with others what you were able to find out on this and we will publish it as well. Thank you so very much!!!

  4. Hi, I would like to get an oversize permit for LA, my gross weight is 81420 lbs in a total of 6 axles, should I get any other permit? Since my declared gross weight for my truck is 80,000 lbs

    Please advise.
