Montana Pilot Car Services

Wide Load Shipping offers trustworthy and reliable pilot car services in Montana. Whether your load is heading for a destination within or out of state, our services have you covered. We regularly escort loads along Montana’s interstates and many rural roads. Our drivers are highly skilled in all terrain and environments, urban or remote. In addition to pilot cars, oversized and overweight loads require permits, insurance, route surveys, and the proper signage, flags, and lighting. We obtain all these for our customers and cover the costs involved. Pilot cars lead or chase over-dimensional loads to ensure safety by warning other drivers and maintaining safe distances. Pilot car drivers constantly contact all units involved to communicate any obstructions ahead. Our services are available for all loads, including overlength steel beams and poles, large construction machines, mining equipment, and large tractors. Oversize Load Route Surveying Services in Montana

Route surveys are required for efficiency and safety reasons. Additionally, it prevents damage to the road and public infrastructure. Route surveying aims to collect data on low-hanging power lines, overhead traffic signals, and signs, dimensions of tunnels and turnpikes, weight and speed limits, and railway crossings. Hauling companies are responsible for covering any damages to public property caused by loads they are moving. Such incidents can lead to unforeseen delays and penalties.  The specifics of a route, like roundabouts, necessitate traffic to be stopped and may require police escorts. Wide Load Shipping logistics experts handle all of these requirements to ease the strain on our customers.  Some of the ideal routes for over-dimensional loads in Montana are:

  • Interstate 90 (I-90): Montana’s primary east-west corridor.
  • Interstate 15 (I-15): Running north-south connecting key cities.
  • U.S. Highway 87: This highway runs parallel to I-15.
  • U.S. Highway 2: Stretches east-west across northern Montana.
