Oversize Load Route Surveying Services in New York

At Wide Load Shipping, we prioritize selecting the most efficient and direct routes for your oversized load in New York State. A crucial part of this process is our comprehensive route surveys, where our pilot car traverses potential routes to assess height clearances, bridge weight limits, overhead utilities, and railway crossings. We also evaluate traffic patterns, as oversized loads may need to leave the road when traffic congestion occurs behind them. When necessary, we coordinate with local police departments to secure escorts, ensuring a smooth passage through busy areas. Additionally, we liaise with utility companies to organize the temporary relocation of infrastructure that may obstruct our loads. We also account for various travel restrictions, as oversized loads typically cannot operate during nighttime, weekends, or specific national holidays without obtaining special permits. Some ideal routes for heavy hauls in New York include;

  • Interstate 90 (I-90): This is a major east-west route.
  • Interstate 87 (I-87): Connects New York City to the Canadian border.
  • Interstate 295 (I-295): a major highway in New York City.
  • State Route 17: Often referred to as the Southern Tier Expressway.
  • US Route 9: running along the Hudson River.
