How Do You Protect Medical Equipment During Transport?

Our services are tailored to protect your medical equipment from moisture, vibrations, and every other form of danger. For instance, we use Conestoga and enclosed trailers because they’re fully covered, and your equipment isn’t exposed to the elements. If your medical equipment is oversized and has to be moved using specialized trailers such as RGNs or lowboys, we ensure they’re carefully and fully covered using tarps to protect them from any sort of damage. Below is the common medical equipment we transport.

  • CT scanners
  • Autoclaves
  • MRI machines
  • Diagnostic equipment
  • Lab equipment
  • X-ray machines

  • Surgical equipment
  • Hospital beds, treatment tables, and other furniture

How Do You Prepare Medical Equipment For Transport

Medical equipment is versatile and can’t be handled like other equipment. Therefore, they require care and utmost professionalism because a slight mistake could mean damage that would inconvenience the lives of many. Below are some things we do to ensure each medical equipment is delivered safely.

Custom Packaging: Medical equipment is delicate and needs to be protected against all forms of damage. We use custom crates equipped with hinges, locking hasps, and locks to ensure they’re secure while in transit. That’s also advantageous because we can label the crates and add logos for easy identification. In addition, we use packing foam to protect them from pressure and abrasion. We know the right foam to use depending on the medical equipment we’re shipping. Among them are high-density foams, low-density foams, recycled foam, and anti-static foams, which are eco-friendly. Below is more information about each type of foam used.

  • Low and High-Density Foam: The high-density foam is firm and used for resisting pressure and weight, while the low-density foam is used for the opposite.
  • Recycled Foam: These types of foams are environmentally friendly. They’re sustainable and reduce wastage.
  • Anti-static Foam: These types of foam are ideal for shipping electronic equipment and parts. They’re suitable for cushioning against impacts because they absorb static charge.
  • Low Abrasive Foam: They’re suitable for shipping materials that need lightweight, non-abrasive, and flexible cushioning.
  • Convoluted Foam: Also known as egg crate foam, they provide additional protection during transport. In addition, they give cases a professional appearance.
  • EVA Foam: They are reusable and come in different grades. In addition to protecting medical equipment, they’re used for military equipment and cars.
  • Ethafoam Sheets: These foams resist corrosion, wear and tear, moisture, and abrasion.
  • Disassembling: We fully or partially disassemble some medical equipment to protect them during transport. Some internal components are fragile, and while it might take time to disassemble them, the shipment is damage-free.
  • Tracking: Medical equipment is extremely expensive, and it’s important to track them at all times until they’re delivered safely.
